History

  • 1992 – Jim Lefcakis graduates from high school and begins a career as a paramedic.  Always interested in computers, he quickly becomes the in-house “IT Guy” for his dispatch center and the police station next door.  His
  • 1992 – In his off time, Jim builds computers for his paramedic and police officer friends.
  • 1996 – Jim starts Leftech, a small computer company.  He was able to build better PCs than those commercially available, but at a much lower cost. Leftech increases head count to 10 employees.  Jim begins his long tenure in the network technology space while increasing computer sales.  He expands Leftech’s offerings by teaching computer classes to the elderly, which he advertises in the local Penny Saver.  Leftech lands a contract to build 30 computers for University of Pittsburgh (Pitt).
  • 1999 –  Jim sells LEFTECH.
  • 2000 – As a result of Leftech’s relationship, Jim takes a job as a Systems Programmer 3 at Pitt, beginning a long career in the education technology space.
  • 2000 – Jim’s brother Nick is the executive chef at the Westin – Pittsburgh.  Nick knows the produce guy selling to the Renaissance Pittsburgh that the hotel needed IT help.  An introduction is made and a relationship with that hotel is still strong.
  • 2000 – Jim starts Lefcakis Consulting to support his new hotel clients.
  • 2003 – The GM of the Renaissance introduces Jim to the GM at the Blackstone in Chicago.  Jim begins making weekend trips to Chicago during his off time at Pitt.
  • 2004 – Understanding that he wanted to grow his IT business, Jim begins graduate coursework in Emergency Medicine and Information Science.
  • 2011 – Jim graduates with a Masters in Health Information Management.
  • 2011 – Lefcakis Consulting is taking on a high volume of project work with hotel management companies, eventually providing 24/7/365 support to over 15 hotels.
  • 2014 – Lefcakis Consulting continues to grow volume of hotel management contracts.  LEFCON hires first full time employee.
  • 2015 – Jim meets Amiel Cabiling, the IT Director at Hard Rock – Chicago. Amiel hires Jim to virtualize the Hard Rock. Jim begins hiring Amiel to do one off jobs primarily at The Blackstone, but a range of other properties.
  • 2016 – LEFCON has three employees, all working remotely.
  • 2017 – Jim leaves job at Pitt and converts Lefcakis Consulting into LEFCON, the company we know today.
  • 2017 – LEFCON moves into their first offices in the basement of the Contra Theatre in Cranberry Twp, PA
  • 2018 – LEFCON’s employee count continues to grow and the 24/7/365 helpdesk is in full production
  • 2018 – LEFCON moves offices to Wexford, PA
  • 2018 – LEFCON moves to Rowan Rd office in Cranberry Township, PA.
  • 2020 – Wins INC 5000 Fastest growing companies in America
  • 2020 – LEFCON continues to add municipalities, fire departments, and police departments on top of dozens of hotels.
  • 2021 – LEFCON purchases their current German St. building and renovates the property to serve as a world class Network, Technical, and Security Operations Center.  The building hold enough space for administrative, purchasing, accounting, and warehouse purposes.
  • 2021 – LEFCON wins INC 5000 Fastest growing companies in America
  • 2022 – LEFCON wins INC 5000 Fastest growing companies in America
  • 2023 – LEFCON supports over 470 hotels and dozens of other businesses
  • 2023 – Jim is still a licensed paramedic
